[Class 20(iii)] A draught excluding means for doors &c. particularly of vehicles, comprises a contoured rigid metal or like retainer strip formed to embrace tightly a flange surrounding the door opening and to hold detachably a flexible weather strip disposed on one side of said flange and to present an interior exposed beading or finishing strip on the opposite side of the flange. In the form shown, the means comprises a sheet metal retaining strip 21, bent to form a narrow U in section so that it can be pressed on to the lateral flange 14 formed on the frame member 11 of the door opening. One limb 22 of the U forms the base of a channel adapted to hold a weatherstrip 23, one of the channel sides 24 being formed by bending up the edge of limb 22, whilst the other side 25, is formed by bending the other limb 26 outwardly and back on itself, as at 27, and then inwardly to lie opposite the side 24. The part 27 constitutes an interior beading or decorative strip and may be covered with cloth or the like 29. The flexible weatherstrip has a tubular part 32 adapted to engage the edge of the door 15 and an integral base part which fits into the channel formed between the sides 24 and 25. The ends of the retaining strip may be secured to the flange 14 by screws 33. |
