<p>A gripper block for conveying continuous rod in a well bore comprises a carrier body formed of a first metal and arranged to be mounted on one of the pair of continuous drive chains of a continuous rod conveying apparatus. A gripping element supported on the carrier body is arranged to engage the continuous rod and is readily separable from the carrier body. The gripping element is formed of a second metal which is softer than the first metal of the carrier body and softer than the continuous rod.</p> |
