A controller for time shifting of refrigeration demand in a refrigerated display cabinet, a refrigerated service cabinet or a refrigerated vending machine makes it possible to let the electricity consumption of such refrigerated cabinets or vending machine coincide with periods of preferred energy consumption, such as periods with low electricity price, periods of high renewable electricity production, or periods where the actual electricity consumption falls below the desired electricity consumption. The controller comprises a temperature sensor, an actuator device for influencing refrigeration demand, and a computing device. Software on the computing device periodically calculates the future optimum periods of refrigeration demands, in such a way that temperature limits are respected and the refrigeration demand coincides as much as possible with the preferred periods of electricity use. These calculated optimum periods of refrigeration demand are then directly or indirectly enforced upon the refrigeration system by the actuator device. |
