This utility model provides a stable ready-to-use high energy and high protein supplementary/complementary food fortified with vitamins and minerals made from locally available raw materials. This utility model is intended to supplement the nutritional needs of severely malnourished infants and young children during emergency situations or intervention feeding programs. The major components of the utility model are made from locally available ingredients preferably powder mix. The process for the production of the utility model involves mixing of comminuted legume-based ingredients, vegetable oil, vitamins, minerals, flavourings and other raw materials. The supplementary food is cooked in a controlled temperature to retain the flavor and potency of the nutrients added. The product is packed in airtight materials to prolong its shelf-life. |
