<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a discharge amount of harmful substances from increasing or a catalyst from being damaged during fail-safe control in a case where change of opening/closing timing of a suction valve or exhaust valve with a variable valve timing mechanism is defective.SOLUTION: In fail-safe control, change of valve timing is stopped; engine torque is reduced compared to that in normal time in which valve timing can be changed properly; and the change gear ratio of a transmission interposed between an internal combustion engine and an axle is operated so that an engine rotational frequency is increased compared to that in normal time.</p> |
