PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the frequency of stopping a printing operation due to shortage of paper in a printer having a plurality of supply means.SOLUTION: A printing system of the present invention includes an image forming apparatus having a plurality of paper supply means, and a terminal device which instructs the image forming apparatus to print an image. This printing system accepts settings of groups A and B each constituting two or more paper supply means among the plurality of paper supply means. For example, when paper of one paper supply means in the group A is all used in the setting of the group A, paper is supplied from another paper supply means in the group A. Further, this printing system has a language monitor for acquiring information for identifying paper supply means included in the group A, and a control code generation section for acquiring information on the residual amount of paper of the paper supply means included in the group A, and for displaying information 153b on the total residual amount of paper in the group A on the basis of the information.
