<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that can perform not only a huge variety of displays based on multicolor/coloring, but also display capable of obtaining sufficient display brightness under even a high luminance environment when image information is displayed while superimposed on an environmental background by using a field sequential method.SOLUTION: A display device 100 has a projection unit 1 for projecting image information 50 through an optical system 3 to a projection face 4 disposed in front of eyes E of an observer, and displaying the image information 50 while the image information 50 is superimposed on an environmental background viewed through the projection face 4, and a controller 2 for controlling the projection unit 1 so as to display the image information 50 according to a field sequential method. The controller 2 is configured to be capable of performing a switching operation between a multicolor/color display mode in which the image information 50 of different display colors are displayed in at least some of plural sub frames, and a high brightness display mode in which the same monochromatic image information 50 is displayed in all the plural sub frames.</p> |
