PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and precisely detect the position of an object in a photographed image.SOLUTION: A detection area 112 is set in a three-dimensional space where a subject positions. When an actual hand enters the detection area 112, coordinate points (white dot and black dot) represented by pixels included in a hand image 114 in a depth image are displayed in the detection area 112. A reference vector 126 which represents a direction of a hand including a shoulder is set as a reference point 122 in the detection area 112. Inner products of vectors from the reference point 122 to the respective coordinate points and the reference vector 126 are calculated, and the inner product values are compared. A position of coordinate points which have higher inner product values is determined as the position of a hand tip.
