PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrite particle that gives excellent rising property in a charge amount of a toner and high charging stability when the particle is used as a carrier particle in an image forming apparatus employing an electrophotographic system.SOLUTION: The ferrite particle essentially comprises a material represented by composition formula MFeO, where M represents at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mg, Mn, Ca, Ti, Cu, Zn, and Ni, and x satisfies 0<X<1; and the particle has a maximum height Rz larger than 2.2 μm and an average length RSm larger than 19 μm and smaller than 26 μm. To obtain the above particle profile, the particle preferably contains an element of Sr, in terms of SrO, by 0.2 mol% to 1.0 mol%. In the above composition formula, M is preferably Mn. |
