The device has an inversion unit comprising a wheel system (7) adapted to be actuated in rotation to drive inversion of a rotation direction of a control part (2) to allow return of a driving shaft toward an initial position. A timing unit is adapted to impose a predetermined time lag for return of the shaft toward the initial position. An operation part (1) and the control part are connected mechanically through a backstop mechanism. The inversion unit and the timing unit cooperate with the mechanism such that operation of inversion does not drive an additional rotation of the operation part. An independent claim is also included for an electric protection apparatus.
