PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical coherent detector and an optical receiver, which acquire a phase diversity, an amplitude modulation component, and a phase modulation component.SOLUTION: In an optical coherent detector, a phase diversity, an amplitude component and a phase modulation component are acquired by an optical 3 dB coupler, a balanced PD (or a PD and a DC block) and a local light generator for generating reference light of which a phase is cyclically varied. The optical coherent detector is used by inputting signal light to one of input ports of the optical 3 dB coupler and inputting not non-modulated continuous light but the reference light of which a phase is varied to be any arbitrary constants &phgr;and &phgr;+&pgr;/2 alternately, for example, to the another input port. |
