The device has a measurement adjusting unit for adjusting a series of parameters (Nmot, AirLd) influencing appearance of knocking in a combustion engine. A calculation module calculates the parameters and produces an advance lighting value from the parameters to ensure a non-occurrence of knocking in the engine. The advance lighting value is produced by implementing a neural network applied to a field of dimension, where the field of dimension is the number of parameters taken into account and influencing the onset of knock. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling ignition of a combustion engine of a car.
