发明名称 AUTONOMOUSLY ADAPTIVE FLOW ACCELERATION BASED ON LOAD FEEDBACK
摘要 Embodiments are directed towards improving the performance of network traffic management devices by optimizing the management of hot connection flows. A packet traffic management device (“PTMD”) employs a data flow segment (“DFS”) and control segment (“CS”). The CS performs high-level control functions and per-flow policy enforcement for connection flows maintained at the DFS, while the DFS performs statistics gathering, and per-packet policy enforcement, on connection flows maintained at the DFS. The DFS may include high-speed flow caches and other high-speed components. Making efficient use of the high speed flow cache capacity may be improved by maximizing the number of hot connection flows based on unique service and network traffic characteristics through adaptive feedback pattern learning together with administrator configurable service preferences that may have flow control data for most bandwidth hungry and desired hot services offloaded to the high-speed flow cache, at appropriate time.

主权项 1. A method for managing communication over a network with a packet traffic management device (PTMD) that performs actions, comprising: employing a plurality of software control segments (CSs) to share one or more hardware data flow segments (DFSs) to manage a plurality of connection flows that are in communication over the network, wherein one or more CSs perform actions, including: determining one or more connection flows of the plurality of connection flows that are eligible for offloading to the one or more DFSs based on one or more performance characteristics associated with the one or more connection flows; determining load information associated with the one or more DFSs based on at least the number of other connections flows currently offloaded to the one or more DFSs; generating a probability value based on at least the load information; when a comparison of a randomly generated number to the probability value indicates an affirmative result, offloading, the one or more connection flows from the one or more CSs to the DFS; and updating the load information based on the offloaded one or more connection flows.
