METHOD OF URGENT TREATMENT OF DESTRUCTIVE KERATOPATHY

FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: disk is incised from a conchal cartilage. That is followed by a 12-o'clock basal iridectomy by incising a root iris portion of 1.0-1.2 mm. The cartilage disk is placed on the iris to cover a corneal defect over 1 mm circumferentially, fixed to a sclera with 10-12 7/0 U-sutures. Viscoelastic 0.2-0.3 mm is introduced into an anterior chamber between the sutures. A temporary blepharorrhaphy is performed in an outer one-third of eyelids with a 6/0 U-suture; solution of gentamicin 10 mg and dexon 4 mg is injected subconjunctivally; floxal ointment is applied into a conjuctival cavity, and tobradex eye drops are instilled.EFFECT: with no transplant material available in situations of extreme urgency, the method enables preventing the anatomical death of the eyeball and restoring its shape and turgor.1 ex
