REDOX FLOW BATTERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING REDOX FLOW BATTERY

Provided are a redox flow battery system and a method for operating a redox flow battery, which achieve the suppression of overcharge or overdischarge of an electrolytic solution. A redox flow battery system provided with: a pump which circulates and supplies an electrolytic solution to a battery cell; a pump control unit which controls the flow rate of the pump; and a measurement unit which measures at least two parameters selected from among an inlet-side state of charge of the electrolytic solution supplied to the battery cell, an outlet-side state of charge of the electrolytic solution drained from the battery cell, and a charge/discharge current inputted/outputted to/from the battery cell. The pump control unit comprises a pump flow rate computation unit which calculates the charge/discharge efficiency of the battery cell from the parameters measured by the measurement unit, and on the basis of the charge/discharge efficiency, determines the flow rate of the pump such that the electrolytic solution drained from the battery cell is not overcharged or overdisharged, and a pump flow rate command unit which sets the flow rate determined by the pump flow rate computation unit for the pump.
