摘要 The main objective of the present invention is to provide a thermosetting composition having photo-alignment properties with which it is possible to form an alignment later having excellent crystal alignment capabilities and adhesiveness to a crystal layer, and to provide an alignment layer, substrate with alignment layer, phase difference plate, and device that use said composition. The present invention achieves the abovementioned objective by providing a thermosetting composition having photo-alignment properties that is characterized by containing a copolymer that has a photo-aligning structural unit represented by the belowmentioned formula (1), and a thermally crosslinkable structural unit represented by the belowmentioned formula (2). Herein, in formula (1), X represents a photo-aligning group, L1 represents a divalent linking group or single bond, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or monovalent organic group, and k represents 1-5, and in formula (2), Y represents a thermally crosslinkable group, L2 represents a divalent linking group or single bond, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or monovalent organic group, and l represents 1-5.
