PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, in conventional wavelength conversion devices, a device scale is relatively large and installation cost is also expensive.SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion element includes a semiconductor laser having an active layer comprising a semiconductor. The active layer receives light of a first optical signal comprising light having a first wavelength, in a state where a voltage or current is applied thereon. The active layer outputs a second optical signal comprising light having a second wavelength, corresponding to the first optical signal. A wavelength conversion device may include a wavelength conversion element, a power supply for applying a voltage or current on the wavelength conversion element, and a power supply control section for controlling the power supply. |
