PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state image pickup device which increases an amount of charge capable of being transferred to a charge voltage conversion part and has a composition favorable to expand a dynamic range.SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device comprises: a photoelectric conversion part; a charge voltage conversion part; a transfer transistor for changing potential of the charge voltage conversion part to a first direction by transferring charge generated in the photoelectric conversion part to the charge voltage conversion part; and an amplification transistor for outputting a signal corresponding to the potential of the charge voltage conversion part to a column signal line, in which a noise level and an optical signal level are sequentially output to the column signal line by the amplification transistor. The solid state image pickup device comprises: a control signal line having capacitance between the charge voltage conversion part and the control signal line; and a control part for changing potential of the control signal line so as to change the potential of the charge voltage conversion part to a second direction opposite to the first direction in a manner such that the charge voltage conversion part is in a floating state and during a period before the noise level is output to the column signal line.
