Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to a power supply and methods for controlling a power supply. More particularly, embodiments of the present invention relate to a digitally controlled power supply, or regulator, and methods for controlling a digitally controlled power supply, or regulator, such that the output voltage is digitally programmable from a first voltage to a second voltage in predetermined steps. For example, a method for regulating a power supply is disclosed. The method includes: connecting a first output to a load; operatively connecting one or more second outputs to the first output; generating a transfer function from an input to the output; and connecting selected first or second outputs to the load to optimize an output in a pre-specified range. |
