ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY

An electromagnetic relay comprising: a contact device that has a fixed contact and a movable contact; and an electromagnet device that moves the movable contact. The electromagnet device has: a coil which generates a first magnetic flux when a current is passed therethrough; a cylinder body which has a permanent magnet that generates a second magnetic flux of the same orientation as the first magnetic flux and which has a hollow part that extends in the central axis direction; a movable element which is disposed in the hollow part of the cylinder body and reciprocates in the central axis direction; and a yoke which, together with the movable element and the cylinder body, forms a magnetic circuit through which the first magnetic flux and/or the second magnetic flux pass. The electromagnet device is configured so that when a current is passed through the coil, the movable contact is positioned at a first position due to the attraction of the movable element by the first magnetic flux and the second magnetic flux. Furthermore, the electromagnet device is also configured so that when there is no current passing though the coil, the movable contact is positioned at a second position different from the first position. This electromagnetic relay is capable of reducing power consumption and costs, while being easy to configure.
