PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extending the life of a water-sealing type conveyor, and a chain washing device.SOLUTION: A water-sealing type conveyor continuously transfers objects-to-conveyed while cooling them within a water tank 31a by a plurality of scrapers 32 and 32 attached at predetermined intervals to a pair of chains 34 and 34 infinitely circulated in the state of being stretched across sprockets 33a and 33b arranged at both ends in a housing 31. The chains 34 and 34 of the water-sealing type conveyor are provided with washing devices 5 and 5 for emitting a jet of washing water 5a toward the chains 34 and 34 in predetermined locations above a water surface of cooling water. The jet of washing water 5a is emitted from the washing devices 5 and 5 to wash the chains 34 and 34.
