PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: clay linked (SMC) polymers which can surely absorb and lock away large amounts of bodily fluids, such as urine, during use of an article thereof, thus providing low rewet and good skin dryness; and water-absorbent articles containing these water-absorbent (SMC) polymers.SOLUTION: An aqueous acidic polymerization liquid is provided comprising polymerizable monomers or oligomers with carboxylate and/or carboxylic acid moieties, and basal surface modified clay that is homogenously dispersible in the liquid. Also provided are methods for making such liquids, and surface-modified-clay linked water-absorbent polymers made with the liquids and methods, and disposable absorbent articles comprising such surface-modified-clay linked water-absorbent polycarboxylate/polycarboxylic acid polymers. |
