PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a code image suitable for reading to be projected without performing an operation relating to the code image by a user in a projection device for projecting the code image.SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes: image generation means 11 for generating a code image showing encoded information and generating a first projection image including the code image; projection means 12 for projecting the first projection image; imaging means 13 for imaging a projection surface on which the first projection image is projected; decode means 14 for extracting and decoding the code image from the imaged image imaged by the imaging means 13; changing means 15 for changing a condition under which the image generating means 11 generates the image when the decoding by the decode means 14 fails; and projection control means 16 for generating a second projection image according to the condition under which the image generation means 11 is controlled and a second projection image is generated according to a changed condition and controlling the projection means 12 so as to make the second projection image projected instead of the first projection image.
