PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element capable of suppressing blackening of a solid electrolytic material and capable of suppressing a crack in the solid electrolytic material after baking by suppressing an unsintered break of the solid electrolytic material in manufacturing and to provide a gas sensor including such a gas sensor element.SOLUTION: A gas sensor element 7 in an air fuel ratio sensor 1 is configured such that at least a part of an end part of a porous electrode 87 is pinched between a porous body 92 and a solid electrolytic material 83. Hence, the contraction of the porous electrode 87 can be suppressed in the initial stage of the heating time in a defatting process during the manufacture of the gas sensor element 7 and a baking process, and an occurrence of an unsintered break in the solid electrolytic material 83 can be suppressed. As a result, the occurrence of the crack arising from the unsintered break in the solid electrolytic material 83 after baking can be suppressed. Since the end part of the porous electrode 87 can receive an oxygen supply via the porous body 92, the solid electrolytic material 83 can suppress the occurrence of blackening. |
