1. A method for increasing expression of a target gene in a cell, the method comprising:
contacting a cell with an oligonucleotide of 10 to 50 nucleotides in length that has a region of complementarity that is complementary with at least 5 contiguous nucleotides in a euchromatic region of a target gene, wherein the antisense strand of the target gene comprises, in the euchromatic region, a nucleotide sequence that encodes at least a portion of an RNA transcript, thereby increasing expression of the target gene in the cell.
