PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide test devices and immunoassay methods utilizing nanoparticles for use in a lateral flow immunoassay possessing increased sensitivity perhaps comparable to the sensitivity of SERS nanoparticles but requiring only relatively simple and inexpensive reflectance reader technology for the detection.SOLUTION: Provided are coated nanoparticles each comprising a core surrounded by a shell that increases reflectance of the nanoparticle, where the coated nanoparticle does not include a Raman-active molecule. Test devices and immunoassay methods utilizing the coated nanoparticles are provided. |
