injecting below the water table an oxygen-containing gas under conditions to dissolve oxygen into the water table; introducing nutrients below the water table; introducing Ralstonia eutropha bacteria with a non-cometabolic pathway for metabolizing chlorinated hydrocarbons below the water table to directly and non-inductively metabolize the chlorinated hydrocarbons as a non-cometabolic substrate; extracting gas the in a vadose zone above the water table that is derived from metabolism of the strain of Ralstonia eutropha bacteria with the chlorinated hydrocarbons. |
