Examples are disclosed for adjusting a performance state of a graphics subsystem and/or a processor based on a comparison of an average frame rate to a target frame rate and also based on whether the graphics subsystem is in a burst mode or sustained mode of operation.

1. One or more computer-readable media, with instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a graphics frame rate control method comprising:
determining a first frame rate at which first graphics frames are rendered by a graphics subsystem operating at a first graphics subsystem operating frequency; and controlling the graphics subsystem to lower the graphics subsystem operating frequency to a non-zero second graphics subsystem operating frequency in response to the first frame rate exceeding a target frame rate.
