The present invention relates to an apparatus for notifying content situation used for a machine with a digital recording device. The apparatus includes: a demultiplexer; an ECM filter which extracts ECM from a transmission stream input through the demultiplexer; a CA application processing unit which transmits contents of the ECM to a smart card or a CAM module, and obtains a control word and URI from the smart card and the CAM module; a descrambler which decodes a relevant stream by using the obtained control word; a record engine which selectively records the content resulted from decoding depending on the URI; a memory which stores the content with URI under the control of the record engine; and a play-back engine which analyzes the stored URI, during content play-back, and outputs the content to an AV output unit by selectively playing back the content after determining whether the content operates based on the URI analysis result. The playback engine analyzes the stored URI expresses a situation for each content period by using situation identification user interface elements different from each other for each situation to make one situation be distinguished from another situation; and outputs the situation to an OSD UI output unit. Unavailability of a relevant function in a current situation is graphically represented by displaying situations for each content period with colors or patterns, different from each other, on a bar indicating a play-back situation. Therefore, usage convenience is increased by providing the UI better than information of simple message output. |
