摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coding system capable of achieving improvement of rate/distortion adjustment, in coding of spatially sampled information signal using subdivision.SOLUTION: A decoder includes a subdivision unit for spatially subdividing an arrangement of information specimens representing signals of spatially sampled information into blocks of different size, by segmenting a quadtree recursively using subdivision of a quadtree, and a reconstruction unit for reconstructing the arrangement of information specimens of a data stream, using spatial subdivision into blocks, by processing the blocks in the order of traverse of depth order.
