<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for testing a material system by employing mechanical displacement cycling as a replacement for materials effects assessment with thermal cycling.SOLUTION: A system includes a support structure 12 for mounting a material system 16, and an electromechanical device 14 operably connected to the support structure 12. The electromechanical device 14 applies an electromechanically induced force to the material system 16. The electromechanically induced force causes a displacement in the material system 16 equal to material displacement caused by thermal stress in significantly less time.</p> |
