PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus 5 configured to reduce warm-up time or first copy type (FCOT), to reduce power consumption, while improving durability and service life of a fixing belt 43.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus 5 includes: an endless belt body configured to fix an unfixed toner image on a recording material P, and to be heated by a heat source 60; a pressing body 42 which comes into contact with or separates from an inner circumferential surface of the belt body 43; a pressure rotation member 32 which is brought into pressure-contact with the pressing body 42 via the belt body 43; a tension body 71 which comes into contact with or separates from the inner circumferential surface of the belt body 43 in a relationship opposite to the contacting/separating motion of the pressing body 42; and rotation transmission means 83 which transmits rotation force of the pressure rotation member 32 to the belt body 43, while the pressing body 42 is separated from the inner circumferential surface of the belt body 43 and the tension body 71 is in contact therewith. |
