A method includes determining, by a base station including a number of transmitting coils, a first set of mutual magnetic parameters characterizing mutual magnetic coupling between each transmitting coil and one or more receiving coils, at least one of which is associated with an electrical and/or electronic device remotely located from and to be remotely charged by the base station. Control signals are determined based on the first set of mutual magnetic parameters. Each control signal is associated with a corresponding one of the transmitting coils, and each control signal is used to cause a driving circuit coupled a corresponding transmitting coil to cause a current with a magnitude and phase determined from the control signal to flow in the corresponding transmitting coil. Together, the currents in the transmitting coils cause wireless power transfer to the one or more receiver coils. |
