1. An image forming apparatus capable of switching power state between a first power state and a second power state, which is lower in power than the first power state, the image forming apparatus comprising:
a first setting unit configured to set a time at which the image forming apparatus shifts from the first power state to the second power state; a detection unit configured to detect an object approaching the image forming apparatus; a shift unit configured to, in a case where the detection unit detects an object approaching the image forming apparatus in the second power state, shift the image forming apparatus from the second power state to the first power state; and a control unit configured to, in a case where the image forming apparatus shifts to the second power state in response to a current time reaching the time set by the first setting unit, control the shift unit not to shift the image forming apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in response to the detection unit detecting an object approaching the image forming apparatus.
