A communication apparatus is provided with a reception unit, a first beacon processing unit, a second beacon processing unit and an authentication processing unit. The reception unit receives a first beacon transmitted over a wireless network with protection using a first common key, and a second beacon transmitted over the wireless network without protection using the first common key. The first beacon processing unit, when in possession of the first common key, uses information included in the first beacon to access the wireless network. The second beacon processing unit, when not in possession of the first common key, uses information included in the second beacon to access the wireless network. The authentication processing unit uses the information included in the second beacon to perform authentication of connection to the wireless network, thereby acquiring the first common key. |
