PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load bearing wall with diagonal member and deformation absorption element superior in energy absorption performance with fewer steel material amount, which exhibits a fusiform load deformation history, and superior in thermal characteristics and sound insulation performance, and is capable of forming an opening for piping at a generally desired point.SOLUTION: A load bearing wall 1 includes: right and left vertical frame materials 3; a top lateral frame member 4 and a bottom lateral frame member 5; and plural lateral frame members 6 as crosspieces. The load bearing wall 1 is partitioned into plural partition layers a1-a4 by the plural lateral frame members 6 as crosspieces, and each of the partition layers a1-a4 is provided with a load bearing element. The load bearing element is constituted of a pair of diagonal member 8 disposed in a V or inverted V shape. A deformation absorption element 9 is provided between an end of intersection of the pair of diagonal member 8 and the lateral frame members 4 and 6 for absorbing a deformation of the partition layers a1-a4 provided with the diagonal member 8. |
