1. Multifocal scanning fluorescence microscope 2.1. Scanning fluorescence microscopes (1) comprising an observation beam path (A) from a measurement volume to an image plane (BE), a beam combiner (6) for coupling in an illumination system (11), and an aperture (15) arranged in the image plane (BE) display, due to sequential scanning, a slow image composition and stress the sample (P) due to inefficient use of the excitation light. An improved scanning fluorescence microscope should simultaneously detect fluorescence quasi-confocally from different focal planes. 2.2. The observation beam path (A) according to the invention comprises, between the beam combiner (6) and the image plane (BE), a first diffractive optics (7) for splitting the light rays into beams along different diffraction orders, said diffractive optics imparting upon the light rays a spherical phase different from the other diffraction orders, a second diffractive optics (13) for compensating for chromatic aberrations of the split beams, and a collecting optics (8) for focusing the split beams into the image plane (BE). 2.3.
