A frequency band setting apparatus for setting a frequency band for direct communication between terminals and a communication method for performing communication using the set frequency band are disclosed. The disclosed frequency band setting apparatus determines, as an idle frequency band, a frequency band that is not used by a base station to which a terminal is connected, among the frequency bands allocated to a wireless network, and determines, as a direct communication frequency band, a frequency band that can be used by two terminals, among idle frequency bands. The two terminals can transmit data using the direct communication frequency band. |
