An electrochemical device of the present invention comprises: a case; an electrode assembly which is placed inside the case and includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and an electrolyte injected into the case. The electrochemical device is charged at 1 C at 25°C and is discharged at 1 C, and the charging and the discharging are set as one cycle. In a state in which the cycle is repeated for 100 times, the volume (GV) which gas generated inside the electrochemical device occupies under conditions of 25°C and 1 air pressure is about 1.5-15 times the volume (EV) of a free space. The content about equation 1 and equation 2 are the same as described in the specification. The electrochemical device can solve a problem of accelerating capacity degradation as the gas, generated from an oxidation reaction of the electrolyte due to a high voltage, reduces a reaction area on the surface of the electrode and further increases a side reaction. |
