<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main girder connecting structure of a bridge where lower flanges on which tensile forces are made to act by the bending moment are joined by tensile joining with high tension bolts instead of friction joining with high tension bolts, thereby securing necessary strength at a connecting portion while enabling efficient construction with a smaller number of bolts. <P>SOLUTION: At the connecting portion where main girders 1 are abutted against each other, splice plates 3 are attached to both faces of the middle of a web 1a and joined to each other by the friction joining with the high tension bolts 4. Steel end plates 5 perpendicular to the main girders 1 are fixed by welding etc., to the lower part of the web 1a, and the steel end plates 5 are joined to each other by the tensile joining with the high tension bolts 7 in the longitudinal direction of the girders 1. The lower flanges 1c are not joined to each other by the high friction joining with the high tension bolts. Also, the steel end plates 5 perpendicular to the main girders are fixed by welding etc., to the upper part of the web 1a, and the steel end plates 5 are joined to each other by the tensile joining with the high tension bolts 7.
