A communication system for transmitting data under a tunnel protocol between at least two computers (100, 200) via a wide area network, said system comprises
- a first computer (100) running a first user application (101) and a virtual private network application to build up TCP and UDP tunnels (400, 410, 440),
- a second computer (200) accordingly running a second user application (201) and a virtual private network VPN application,
- a wide area network (300) to which both computers (100, 200) are connected by physical connections (110, 112, 210), wherein both user applications (101, 201) are implemented to communicate for an IP data packet exchange via at least one of the TCP tunnels (400, 410) and the UDP tunnel (440) using the TCP and/or UDP transport protocol based on according TCP (122, 222), UDP (142, 242) and IP stacks (121, 221) on both computers (100, 200), and
- a splitter (510) implemented in or associated to at least one of both computers (100, 200) which splitter (510) analyzes the IP data packets to be sent from one of the computers (100, 200) to the other computer (200, 100) as concerns the type of the IP data packets and directs IP data packets of the TCP type to be transmitted over a TCP tunnel (410) and IP data packets of the UDP type to be transmitted over a UDP tunnel (440). |
