The invention relates to anti-Factor D antibodies and Factor D-binding fragments thereof, their nucleic acid sequences, the host cells and vectors that harbor these antibodies and Factor D-binding fragments, the method of making anti-Factor D antibodies and Factor D-binding fragments thereof, and the method of detecting Factor D. The invention also relates to compositions comprising the anti-Factor D antibodies or the Factor D-binding fragments thereof, their use in preparation of medicaments and treating disorders associated with excessive or uncontrolled complement activation.
