A secondary drive unit 10 having a primary drive unit and power take-off, the drive unit comprises a housing 12, 14a, an input element 16 drivable by a machine at one end of the housing 12, a driven output element 18 at the other end of the housing 12 for driving a tool or machine, and at least one rotatable epicyclic gear carrier 44 in the housing 12 drivable by the drivable input clement 16. An interior surface of the housing 12 includes a projecting gear-carrier stop 58 overlapping an upper edge of the gear carrier 44, a low-friction rubbing element 62 between the stop 58 and the carrier 44 to prevent or limit carrier lift and thereby preventing undue lateral strain along a central rotational axis of the drive unit, and possibility of shearing. The invention also relates to a drive unit which has changeable epicyclic gear sets, a thrust bearing, lubrication channels and heating system to improve internal lubrication, and a coupling to prevent or limit detachment from a drive output shaft. |
