An apparatus for opening a valve to provide the influx of fresh air through a dry powder inhaler comprises an elastic membrane or diaphragm in communication with a compressed air chamber 514 and having a conical occluding part 612 which is moved to a closed position in sealing engagement with an air inlet 921 in response to a positive air pressure within the compressed air chamber and is moved to an open position disengaged from the inlet in response to a reduction of the air pressure, enabling fresh air to exit outlet 922 and entrain dry powder aerosolised by compressed gas for inhalation by the user. Compressed air enters chamber 514 through inlet 543 via check valve 520 and is released vie outlet 512 controlled by a suction actuated compressed gas valve. |
