<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that has excellent crack durability. <P>SOLUTION: A polarizing plate according to the present invention includes a polarizer and a protective layer laminated on at least one surface of the polarizer. A linear expansion coefficient α of the protective layer in the direction parallel to a transmission axis of the polarizer is smaller than a linear expansion coefficient of the polarizer in the direction of the transmission axis thereof.
