Bed 900 that comprises: a support surface defined by a plurality of support members 104, some of which are resiliently urged towards an unloaded position by a spring 118; and a damping system 106 which dampens vibrations on the spring 118. The support members 104 have a shaft 112 and a laterally extending protrusion 114. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing a bed wherein a receiving element has an aperture to receive the shaft and protrusion of the support members. In a further aspect some of the support members have a laterally extending pusher member (Fig 3, 236) that comprise damping material (Fig 3, 254). According to some aspects the support members 104 are received by a guide member (Fig 7b, 320) that is arranged to retain the spring 118 by engaging between the coils of the spring. The invention also relates to bed frames with movable side elements (Fig 14, 568) that are resiliently urged towards an unloaded position. |
