The present invention relates to a composition which contains flavopiridol as an active ingredient and is used for the prevention and treatment of uterine leiomyoma, and more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and a health food composition which can be used for the prevention and treatment of uterine leiomyom by selectively applying the flavopiridol to uterine leiomyoma cells to inhibit the expression of genes related to progression of cell cycle of the uterine leiomyoma cells, thereby blocking the progression of the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis. Accordingly, the composition can prevent and treat the uterine leiomyoma through reduction of the cell viability and proliferation of the uterine leiomyoma cells.
