Provided are compounds of the formulae la and lb, in which the variables R, n, A, B, R1 and R2 are each as defined in the description. Also disclosed is the use of compounds of the formula la or lb or mixtures thereof and/or isomers or mixtures of the isomers thereof as photosensitizers in solar cells and photodetectors. Solar cells and photodetectors comprising such compounds of the formula la or lb or mixtures thereof and/or isomers or mixtures of the isomers thereof as photosensitizers are also provided.
