[Class 49] [Also in Group XXIX] For the delivery of sterile water at any desired temperature within a particular range from a water sterilizer wherein the sterilization is effected by heating under pressure, the outlet is connected to a mixer over two paths of which one includes a cooler, and means are provided for regulating the relative rates of flow over the two paths. In the apparatus of Fig. 1 the sterilizer consists of a vessel 1 having a domed head provided in the upper part with a water inlet 2 and in the lower part with a steam coil 3, a steam pressure of 15 pounds per square inch being maintained within the vessel. The sterile water draw-off 4 leads through a 3-way cock 7 to a delivery pipe 6 which branches through pipes 6a and 6b to a mixing valve 8, the branch 6b passing through a cooler 9 supplied with cold water through an inlet 10. Operation of lever 15 on the valve 8 causes opening or closing of a valve 25 on the cooling water inlet 10, and the degree of turning of this lever adjusts the relative proportions of hot and cold sterile water entering the valve from the respective branches 6a and 6b.
