OBSTACLE DETECTION APPARATUS USING DATABASE AND THE METHOD THEREOF

An obstacle detection apparatus using a database and a method thereof are disclosed. The obstacle detection apparatus comprises: an obstacle database which stores information of multiple obstacles; an obstacle estimation data input unit which receives obstacle estimation data that is front object information detected through a laser scanner; a data processing unit which extracts candidate area extraction data for detecting an obstacle from the obstacle estimation data; and an obstacle detection unit which compares the obstacle data stored in advance in the obstacle database with the candidate area extraction data to detect an obstacle.
